DN Jewelry
The entire Danny Newfeld collection is made from 925 Sterling Sterling or 14K Gold. You will see the 925 stamp on each item. Some of our jewelry is also plated. You may also choose 14K Yellow Gold plating over sterling silver, or 14K Rose Gold over sterling silver. Did you know: Sterling silver is nickel and lead free? Exact materials associated with each style are listed on their product detail page.
Our offices, fulfillment center and design studio is located in Ra'anana, Israel.
Silver will need a little TLC to avoid tarnishing (also called oxidization). You can avoid tarnish by wearing your jewelry often. The natural oils in your skin will “clean” the silver and keep it looking shiny. we recommend that our customers are cautious when washing their hands, swimming, exercising, cleaning, or styling their hair, as soaps, chlorine, detergents, cleaning agents, and hair products can remove the plating. Our Danny Newfeld eco-friendly pouch doubles as a safe haven for your jewelry’s storage and a polishing cloth to keep it looking bright and shiny.
Because of our jewelry is 14K Gold plated over sterlings silver, it is possible for the plating to fade over time from continuous wear. This is unavoidable over the lifetime of any plated jewelry. Because of this, we do recommend that our customers are cautious when washing their hands, swimming, exercising, cleaning, or styling their hair, as soaps, chlorine, detergents, cleaning agents, and hair products can remove the plating. Our Danny Newfeld eco-friendly pouch doubles as a safe haven for your jewelry’s storage and a polishing cloth to keep it looking bright and shiny.

Your purchases from theDanny Newfeld Collection may be taxed using the applicable sales tax rate for your shipping address. An estimated sales tax amount will be displayed when orders are placed. The exact sales tax will be calculated and charged at the time your order is shipped. Purchased goods may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country or state.
As of August 29, 2025, the U.S. eliminated the $800de minimis exemption for most imports, meaning nearly all shipments from Israel are now subject to duties regardless of value. Shipments often incur a15%customs duty, plus potential processing fees (e.g., 10 ILS + VAT via EMS).Key Details on U.S. Customs Duties from Israel:
- Minimum Amount: There is no longer a guaranteed exemption for low-value, non-gift shipments; duties apply to most, if not all, values.
- Duty Rate: A 15% duty is often applied on shipments, as reported for some Israeli imports.
- Methodology: New rules introduced in late 2025 involve either ad valorem duties (percentage of value) or specific duties ($80–$200 range).
- Exceptions: Bona fide gifts under $100 from individuals are generally exempt.
- Fees: In addition to duties, courier services like EMS charge processing fees (e.g., 10 ILS + VAT).
Note: The U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement may still apply to specific, formally declared commercial goods, but general e-commerce, small-package, and personal imports are now heavily restricted, with the previous $800 threshold removed.
There is a minimum amount for Canadian customs duty and taxes on items imported from Israel. Generally, if the goods are worth CAN$20 or less, they are exempt from duties and taxes. If the item is worth more than CAN$20, you will likely have to pay duty, GST/HST, and possible provincial sales tax. Here is a breakdown of Canadian customs duty for shipments from Israel:1. Minimum Amounts (De Minimis Rule)
- Goods C$20 or less: No duty or taxes.
- Gifts C$60 or less: No duty or taxes, provided they are sent from an individual to another individual.
- Over C$20: If the item exceeds this value, taxes (like the 5% GST) and duty are applicable on the total value.
2. Duty Rates from Israel
- CIFTA Agreement: The Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA) generally provides duty-free or reduced-rate access for industrial and many agricultural products manufactured in Israel.
- Applicable Duty: While the trade agreement reduces duties, you may still be subject to 5% GST and provincial taxes. If the goods do not qualify for the free trade certificate of origin, they may be charged the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff rate.
- Types of Goods: Some goods, such as certain fruits, vegetables, or wine, might have specific quotas, but many are duty-free.
3. Important Considerations
- Calculating Value: Customs duty and taxes are calculated based on the Canadian dollar value of the goods, which includes shipping costs.
- Handling Fees: If the item is delivered via courier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL), you may be charged a brokerage or handling fee in addition to the taxes.
- Exemptions: Some items do not qualify for the C$20 exemption, including alcohol, tobacco, books, periodicals, and magazines.

Roman Glass Jewelry: Frequently Asked Questions
1. What exactly is Roman glass, and how old is it?
Roman glass refers to ancient glass fragments discovered in archaeological excavation sites throughout the regions once ruled by the Roman Empire, particularly in modern-day Israel. This glass dates back roughly 2,000 years, ranging from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. When you wear a piece of Roman glass jewelry, you are literally wearing a piece of history that was crafted and used by people two millennia ago.
2. Why does the glass have that unique iridescent coating?
The beautiful rainbow-colored sheen, known as patina, is the result of a chemical reaction between the glass and the mineral-rich soil where it was buried for centuries. Over time, the glass absorbed minerals from the earth, creating thin layers of oxidation that refract light into dazzling shades of blue, green, and purple. Because this process happens naturally and depends on specific soil conditions, no two pieces of Roman glass ever look exactly the same.
3. How do I know if my Roman glass jewelry is authentic?
Authentic Roman glass usually comes with a certificate of authenticity from the jeweler. Physically, genuine ancient glass has a distinct look and feel—the patina is often flaky or layered rather than painted on, and the glass itself is typically lightweight. Because the supply of this ancient material is finite, reputable dealers source their fragments from authorized archaeological excavations. Always purchase from trusted jewelers who specialize in historical artifacts or artisan Israeli jewelry.
4. Is Roman glass fragile? How should I care for it?
While the glass has survived for thousands of years, the iridescent patina is delicate. The most critical rule for care is to avoid water. Exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, or hairspray can cause the patina to flake off or fade, leaving you with plain glass.
- Do not wear it while swimming, showering, or washing dishes.
- Do clean the silver or gold setting carefully with a polishing cloth, ensuring you don't rub the glass itself.
5. Does Roman glass jewelry hold its value?
Yes, and it is often considered a collector's item. Since the supply of ancient Roman glass is limited—no new Roman glass is being made, after all—fragments become rarer over time. The value depends on the quality of the patina (the intensity of the colors), the size of the fragment, and the craftsmanship of the setting (typically sterling silver or gold). Beyond monetary value, it holds immense historical significance as a tangible connection to the ancient world.
